      • Sweden and Netherlands do not ban cars.
      • They changed streets to support bicycles in cities. This is not banning cars.

They “ban” parking lots in many parts of the cities, isn’t this nearly the same as banning cars?

I would partially agree with such logic, but there are reasons

          • They want to encourage using bicycles or other solutions, or use the space for something more efficient.
          • Space reasons, it is easier to park lots of bicycles than cars.
          • Keep in mind that the street system in mentioned countries were always better than in the rest of the world, you just cherry-picked such examples to make your point, I get it. But you cannot apply such techniques in New York, it would require billions of money to restructure the entire city.

I get your idea and I agree that - we should - approach similar things in all cities, but it will not happen for various reasons.

And then what, walk or use bicycles. Will never happen friends. NEVER, and I am also highly against it. In Siberia with minus 50 C, if you walk or use bicycle you are dead in 20 minutes. It’s not practical, you need vehicles at some points, trucks too to deliver X. Cars also already evolved and there are some alternative solutions and filters.

Cars are also not the big problem, the big problem is that there are millions of cars with only one single person in it. If we build intelligent UBER-system based AI + app for it, we could reduce the overall cars and get 4 persons in a car, which would reduce CO2 on a bigger level.

However, cars on a global scales produce less CO2 than other things we should focus first, like atomic energy, the food problematic which is the upcoming crisis because you cannot feed 10 B people and other things.

I see the future like shown in Minority Report movie, self-driving vehicles on green energy, electric or what, this is up to a debate, but overall with 2-4 people in it, efficient and that the streets becoming more intelligence. Instead of building your house around streets you integrate the street into your house, so you park directly, also shown like in the MR movie, in front of your living room.

Surely not in my or your lifetime, but this is the future.

        • Busses are fine in a city but not in other areas.
        • Your argumentation of easily feeding 10B people is dangerously wrong. It is not easy and enforcing that people getting all vegans will result in rebellion, chaos and other problems. There is also no farmland in some regions, e.g. Japan, they depend on fish and fishing the ocean empty is also not a longtime solution.

I highly disagree, the article is dangerous wrong about certain things. It is naive point of view, there is also no region which, according to you, doing this already. More cars than ever are produced, because the demand is still high. Most people, including myself, see a car as part of freedom. Tell a teenager who used a buss in his childhood to again continue to use a buss, this will not happen, people want to be independent, free and do whatever they want and a car is simply part of it.

            • In America, the vast majority eats, what you call, cheap meat 5 days a day. This is a proven fact, there are statistics, starts with breakfast and so on. They will rebel over this, war was started for much less e.g. over oil price.
            • In America, people eat burgers over healthy food because it is cheaper to get a burger from McDonald’s, fact.
            • There is no statistic which supports your claim that there is enough farmland, this is ridiculous. There is not.
            • Climate change will impact several sectors, coffee etc. and it will be much harder to feed people, as you say … easily. Your assumption is simply incorrect, the price for everything will raise a lot and people will riot, maybe not at first but if people struggle to put food on the table it will happen.
            • No one said that farming based things will stop to exist, it is about that the current situation will not last forever. People will and need to change numerous things, and this will create conflicts.

            Your points are naive because

            • You assume everyone lives in a city, this s not the case, you need a car for freedom, to get to a doctor as you are not in a city, among many other reasons.
            • I will rebel if I cannot use my car because I see this as a symbol of freedom, to go where ever I want without asking for permission. I grow up in a small town, we had 2 busses, one in the morning and one in the evening, if you missed them you had to walk. So I know exactly what I am talking about.
            • Your argumentation relies on pseudoscience that do not see all variables, and there are many, you cannot remove trucks and use e.g. train as replacements. There is not enough infrastructure, sometimes it is impossible to use trains and trucks can deliver on point, Trucks have more CO2 than 5-10 cars. Simply impossible to replace such things in society, it will create a cascade of problems such as supply chain issues, higher prices etc. People WILL rebel. The moment people struggle with fundamental things, they go on the streets, and I am with them on this… If my baby cannot get food or I cannot afford it, I will rebel and break laws before my baby dies, everyone would do the same.

This article + you are delusional on many levels. This is far from realistic and not meant as insult, but there is no statistic to support such Utopia.

                • Fast Food is simply cheaper.
                • Incorrect, we can only feed 10B people if we change fundamental things, this is shown here.
                • You cannot build infrastructure like you want, it is expensive and not realistic. Your idea only works in crowded cities.
                • You can this and live on surface of Moon, but it is not realistic for most people. Who are you to tell people what do do. You have no right to do that, people see this as threat to freedom. They want their car, if you tell them to get rif of it they will load the gun and tell you to leave their property.
                • Your claims cannot be verified because scientists all say other things. I could link here 100 documents proving that you are delusional and this is absurd and not realistic.

You cannot and never will get rid of cars, trucks, busses etc. This would result in a collcapse in society and create chaos, the better approach is to find green energy alternatives and as said handle resources much better.

You are absolute and absurdly delusional on how things in the real-world working. I can tell this after the discussion here.
