And that’s it’s specifically dual rape? Ex; 2 hamsters mating, neither the female or male hamster can consent so they’re raping each other.

I think we could word it as “both parts should be able to consent in the most meaningful way that either of them is capable of”

Animals don’t differentiate between rape and sex. Morality is a human construct. There’s forced sex and there’s one from both sides. It’s all brutal out there.

Yes, most animal reproduction is rape, except some rare cases.

I remember reading some animals are strictly monogamous and they stick to their couple for their whole life, which if you look at their behaviour it seems to be consensual, the thing is that we’re basically viewing nature through an anthropocentric perspective, to calling it or not rape is a bit misleading.

As @ajr said there are mating rituals even for animals . for instance even birds have to impress the female over the other males. Theres def competition . it doesn’t happen just like that.

Just because one animal does not do that it does not mean it doesn’t happen, look at ducks for example, and you’ll see a totally different scenario. True, this mostly happens when there aren’t enough females, but this behaviour is super common among a lot of animals, saying “it doesn’t happen just like that” is oversimplifying stuff.

Also, good Quora thread.
