So somehow I’ve never played a Diablo game but I do enjoy loot in my games.
Is 4 a good game to jump in to for the first time or is 3 with all the trimmings the better experience for a newcomer?
Rather hear opinions from real people who are passionate about the game than read or watch a load of IGN spiel.
Thanks all. I’ll check it out when I’m in the mood for some looting and I’ll come back to join in with you
Please, do come back and report how you liked it
I would start with 4 - much larger community for multiplayer

I played all diablos from diablo 2 and many other arpg. I’m having a blast with D4 as a veteran arpg player but I also see how it is friendly for people new to the franchise/genre or even arpgs.
There is a bunch of content not to be bored easily, the story is amazing (I’ll create a post with the lore so far stolen from reddit) and the options to customize your character are pretty good.
Last Diablo I played was D1, and that was about 20 years ago. Tried to get into Path of Exile these last few years but didn’t stick around (story didn’t do it for me, and found it too complex for how casually I play games these days).
Bought D4 on a whim. I have been enjoying it so much. Great storyline, game can be very casual, it has replayability. Overall I am super super satisfied with it, i recommended it to my friends and they’ve also been having a great time
I’m OK with it being fairly casual. Any micro transactions to worry about?
As the other comment said - only cosmetics (and eventual battlepass, BUT Blizzard has said the battlepass rewards wouldn’t be pay 2 win).
I have yet to see a cosmetic outfit in-game. The armour you get from drops looks awesome as hell… You can dismantle fodder gear and they unlock free cosmetic overrides (which you can set as a transmog, and toggle on/off from work inventory whenever).
Only aesthetics, nothing game changing.
4 is a lot better gameplay and things to do…
