As far as the client issues, I wholeheartedly agree. That said, it is possible to use Discord via Pidgin, which gets rid of the bulkyness and of some of the privacy issues.

Sixth, they blatantly say in their ToS they might sell all your data to advertisers and third parties
Good rule of thumb: if it’s backed with VC (Venture Capitalist) money, it’s guaranteed to fuck you over some time in the future.

I am of the opinion that the discord app is actually one of the better electron apps.
I mostly use it for chatting with friends. Is there a good alternative for that?
